SAND IS DISPOSABLE GRAFFITI

Sand is Disposable Graffiti

In the sand, she wrote,
I cleaned this beach---
Please don’t pollute.

The line was drawn in the sand.

Pressed into the sand are
footprints lasting only to
water’s edge.

In the sand, he wrote,
Will you marry me?
inside a giant heart.

Left in the sand is
graffiti at dusk---
for the rest of us
to learn.

The sand can always be changed.

  1. Really like this and a new take on graffiti. Had never thought of it in this way and so true.

  2. pretty cool to tour the beach and see the remnants of the days activities...and maybe even ponder at the couple and did she say yes...smiles.

  3. Ah the shifting sand graffiti, I am partial to the environmentally friendly version. Apparently some are now using moss and buttermilk instead of spray paint.

  5. Like the impermanence of media asserting permanent consequences.

  6. Never thought of beaches as canvasses - but so they are. An opportunity to briefly leave our thoughts...before being washed away forever,

  8. It's amazing the things people will write/draw on a sandy beach, confident that the tide will sweep the evidence away. Very nice interpretation of Anna's prompt.

  9. How many times have I written love notes in the sand? Too many to count. You captured me with this one.
