She Peers into the Illuminate
Heartbreaking and freeing,
hidden and in view,
the night transcends
a beating caged bird.
Her certainty bleeds over
a metal pedestal,
a waterfall of hope
revealing the strength of sinew
buried deep inside of her
citadel heart.
Bronzed braids guard like snakes,
a teeter of fear as
her elevator drops,
red fills the blush of
the past road-map,
and the future lands love
through the doorway
of her fluid nakedness.

dverse poetry
the future lands love through the doorway of her nakedness...what a cool line...and for me there is meaning in the transparency in that....
ReplyDeletethe strength - the fear - hidden and in view - i like how you work the contradictions in and with the last lines they totally make sense
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done ekphrasis. I find it difficult to write these about sculptures, but look what Keats did with the Grecian Urn and what you have done with this. Bravo, Tracy.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Tracy. I like the ending to it.
